• Surface Area: 27,692 Acres
• Drainage Area: 607 Square Miles
• Average Depth: 4 Feet
Lake Istokpoga is a freshwater lake in Highlands County, Florida. It is considered the fifth largest lake in the state. Despite its area, it is very shallow, with an average depth of only 4 feet. As a result, boaters must be cautious to not become stranded near the shore line. Because it is so shallow, the lake is extremely dangerous for boaters during windstorms, as the waves get quite high.

The lake provides many recreational opportunities including: boating, fishing, and camping. There are two public parks located on the lake, as well. One park is located on the North side of the lake and the other is on the south east corner. There are also five public boat ramps around the lake.
